2 OR 3 PINOS Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Meunier
Vintage: 2023
Tasting notes: Strawberries, cherries… and maybe an angel’s kiss in spring? Bright red fruit aromatics take the lead - think strawberry, cherry, a little rose petal - with just a whisper of stalky spice and earthiness for intrigue. The palate is soft, juicy and round, with gentle tannins and a savoury finish that keeps things on track. It’s more generous than a rosé, lighter than your usual red, and happy whether served cool or with a full chill. Utterly smashable.
Winemaker’s notes: Is Meunier a real Pinot? Unclear. Are we spelling things right? Also unclear. But what is clear: this wine is a celebration of Pinot diversity in all its forms. It brings together three different parcels from across the Great Southern. First, skin-fermented Pino Gris from Frankland for texture, spice and those lovely coppery hues. Then Pino Noir from Mount Barker for juicy, sappy red fruits and perfume. And finally, a splash of Pino Meunier from Denmark to add red berry lift and whole bunch crunch. Everything was wild fermented, low intervention, and blended for maximum drinkability. It’s bright, fun, and just a little bit weird - in the best way possible. Don’t dream it, drink it, baby.
