Little Sak Riesling

$36.00

Vintage: 2023

Tasting notes: A classic Great Southern Riesling… kind of. Little Sak is bright, expressive and straight-up delicious from the get-go. Expect aromas of crushed slate, lime zest and just-picked red apples. On the palate, it’s all juicy precision - racy acidity stitched seamlessly into the wine, delivering a wave of citrus, wildflowers and coastal herbs. It glides, it hums, it throws flavour around like it’s having the time of its life. Drink it now, or stash it away for a few years. Either way, it’s ready when you are.

Winemaker’s notes: Little Sak started as a spontaneous idea mid-vintage - what if we made a “normal” Great Southern Riesling? Before there was time to overthink it, a mate offered up fruit from one of Mt Barker’s oldest vineyards. And just like that, it was happening.

Compared to its more experimental sibling Das Sakrileg, this wine leans a little more classic - less oxidative handling, a lighter touch with barrel ferment, more fruit purity, and less lees influence. Still, it carries the hallmarks of the La Violetta style: energy, nuance, and a little wink of rebellion. Call it sakrelicious. We do.
