Vintage: 2025
Winemaker’s notes:
The mid-weight red blend you never knew you needed.
It’s time to get on the Pingrs!
The two components: Pinot Noir (86%) and Grenache (14%).
Pinot Noir was sourced from thirty-year-old dry-farmed vines on karri and jarrah loams east of Manjimup. Handpicked, cold soaked, fermented in two parcels, with whole-bunch fruit at 12% of the total. After two weeks on skins, the wine was basket-pressed before aging for ten months in seasoned French casks.
The Grenache, a tiny parcel, comes from two single rows of vines on gravelly, sandy loams, south-east of Donnybrook. The elegance of these two varieties works to bring something new to the table, revealing unexpected synergies and delights.
13.5% Alc. Only 88 dozen made.
Tasting notes:
Pretty in its ruby-hued translucence, it dances in the glass. Aromas of stewed strawberries, pomegranate and satsuma plum, with notes of autumnal leaf.
Quite a savoury vibe going on here, as subtle spices come into play both from the fruit and background oak. In combination with red fruits, gentle tannins and a little cacao bitterness, this makes for a very satisfying wine that does not hang around long in your glass.
