Spunk Nat
Vintage: 2024
Tasting notes: Bright, fresh and just a little bit cheeky. Expect lifted aromas of early spring strawberries, wildflowers and citrus peel. The palate is lively and textured - fine, gentle bubbles carrying those fruit flavours alongside Great Southern Riesling’s trademark acidity. There’s a subtle leesy creaminess and a delicate kiss of residual sweetness (3–4 g/L) that rounds it all out. It’s playful but balanced, and thanks to the lees, it’ll keep evolving nicely in bottle for a few years.
Winemaker’s notes: Spunk Nat is our ode to pét-nat frivolity, Great Southern style. Two serious sites come together to make something fun and seriously drinkable. Frankland River Riesling (90%) and Mount Barker Shiraz (10%) were given a couple of days on skins to build colour, aromatics and gentle texture before being pressed off and co-fermented wild. Timing is everything with pet nat: we bottled at just the right moment to catch the last breath of fermentation, creating a gentle, natural fizz.
The wine was carefully racked to keep sediment low, but as always with undisgorged pét nat, you’ll find a bit of fine sediment and natural tartrate crystals in the bottle. No fining, no filtration, just honest, playful sparkling wine. The 2024 release is bright, fresh and well-behaved in the glass - perfect for warm days, good friends and letting the good times roll.
Alcohol 12.0% Alc.
